Crew availability good as budget season begins

As we head into budget season we’re pleased to report that in Danica we now almost have a balance between vacancies and seafarers looking for employment thanks to our diversified portfolio of available crew. Ukrainian seafarers are now able to leave the country and return to sea, thereby boosting crew numbers alongside those who have resettled with their families in other countries.

Over the summer Danica Crewing Specialists has expanded and we are now able to assist you from our new operational centre in Cyprus as well as providing crews from our many offices. We are pleased to have such a strong foothold in so many leading seafarer supply countries across the world. Particular highlights are our growing office in Batumi, Georgia which is boosting our pool of qualified Eastern European crew, as well as our busy partnership office in The Philippines which provides competent Filipino crews.

Wages have largely stabilised although there is still fierce competition for competent crews and we urge owners not to delay making job offers when presented with good seafarers. However, travel expenses have increased, due particularly to a 10-15% rise in air fares. Our office teams have also been busy recently doing the airlines’ jobs by dealing with a lot of cancelled flights and instances of lost luggage!
