Danica is solving crew shortages by using new digital tools to enhance our recruitment process.
We are completely overhauling our recruitment process by integrating communication using WhatsApp into our in-house developed digital recruitment system – with great results.
Danica Founder and CEO Henrik Jensen has set a goal that it should be as easy to apply for a vacancy as it is to order a pizza online!
So how does it work? We push relevant vacancies instantly to prospective candidate through WhatsApp and with a few clicks the applicant can apply. Our system then checks in seconds as to whether the applicant is suitable and then guides them on through the next steps in the online screening process.
If the applicant does not like the presented vacancy, then our system asks them why not and adjusts our records to enable us to be more precise when presenting vacancies to the applicant in the future.
Danica’s new system has increased responses to our vacancies up to 10-fold, while the lead time to close a vacancy has been reduced by 33%.
Henrik Jensen comments: “There is a shortage of competent seafarers and yet some recruiters and employers are still acting like there are three applicants for each vacancy, despite the reality being quite the opposite! Each competent applicant can choose between several job offers so it’s vital to reach out to these seafarers quickly and efficiently to ensure we can place them with our excellent owners. Utilising digital technology within our recruitment process is really giving us an edge when it comes to securing good talent.”
