Danica’s new recruitment platform handles 10,000 applicants in first six weeks

Danica’s investment in a new digital recruitment platform is already delivering results, with more than 10,000 applicants handled through the system in its first six weeks.

Launched in June, the platform was designed to make applying quicker and easier for seafarers, while helping our recruitment teams identify suitable candidates faster. Instead of asking applicants to complete lengthy forms and provide information that may never be needed, the system collects only the details required at each stage.

A new applicant starts by answering just nine questions, taking around 90 seconds. The interactive platform then guides the candidate towards relevant vacancies and asks for additional information only when it is needed to establish whether they meet the requirements for the position.

This is increasingly important in a market where experienced officers may have several opportunities open to them. A lengthy application process can be enough to put off a good candidate before a recruiter has even had the chance to speak to them.

We deliberately introduced the platform first in selected recruitment markets so we could monitor how it performed. With more than 10,000 applicants already handled, we are now preparing to promote it on seafarer job sites and through recruitment channels worldwide.

For clients, this means access to a larger and more responsive candidate pool, while our recruiters can spend more time assessing suitable seafarers and less time collecting information that is not relevant to the vacancy.
